#31 It’s Not Better to Give Than to Receive. Here’s Why.

Giving and receiving are two sides of the same coin.

Most money issues aren’t actually about money.

They’re about giving and receiving.

People who struggle financially almost always struggle with one of these:

They can’t give freely.

They can’t receive freely.

Or they bounce awkwardly between both.

They give with tension.

They receive with guilt.

So the fair exchange is not flowing.

There’s a line in the Bible that gets badly misunderstood:

“It is more blessed to give than to receive.” (Acts 20:35)

Most people read it like a moral ranking system.

Giving is good.

Receiving is kind of… wrong.

That’s not what’s being said.

Read it in context and it’s obvious.

Paul, the apostle, isn’t praising struggle or dependence.

He’s praising strength.

He says, in effect:

Be industrious and self-reliant.

Stand on your own feet. Follow my example.

Build enough capacity that you don’t need help.

Why?

So you’re free to offer it.

That’s power.

Here’s the part most people miss:

Giving and receiving are equal.

They’re two sides of the same coin.

If nobody receives, nobody gets to give.

If nobody gives, nobody can receive.

You don’t get moral points for blocking one side of the flow.

If you feel weird charging.

If you downplay compliments.

If asking for help makes you uncomfortable.

If money feels “heavy” instead of neutral.

You’re not broken.

You’re just learning the balance of giving and receiving.
