Johnny’s father in the morning:
“Johnny, wake up and go to school!”
Johnny, sleepy, replies:
“I don’t want to go to school. I don’t like it there.”
“Johnny, wake up, it’s time to go to school,” his father insists.
“I don’t want to. The kids laugh at me and I’m afraid of tests.”
“Johnny, remember that you’re 40 years old and you’re the school principal!!”
The reason we told you this joke is that, too often, we forget that we have the power to decide and the authority to do things the way we truly want.
We step into other people’s “stories” and start believing we “have to” do what others want from us. We forget to ask ourselves what truly matters.
Next time you feel overwhelmed, tense, or uneasy, remember that “you’re 40 years old and you’re the school principal.”
